Organ Donation and Transplantation:  How Does It Work?

Introduction to Video:  When you apply for your Oklahoma driver’s license, you are presented with the opportunity to join the organ, eye and tissue donor registry. These short videos will give you the facts about donation, describe how you can save lives, and share some personal stories of individuals whose lives were directly impacted by donation and transplantation.

Time: “Organ Donation and Transplantation” - 5 minutes “Any One, Any Age” - 7.5 minutes
Allow additional time for Q&A following video presentations

Lesson Plan
• Show the videos to the students
• Following the videos, provide an opportunity to ask questions.

Individual with Personal Connection to Transplant Community

Scheduling a classroom speaker from LifeShare is encouraged and offers students an engaging perspective about the importance of organ, eye and tissue donation. Speakers are trained to tell their personal story in an age-appropriate and interesting way to show students how donation positively affected the speaker’s life.
