ACTION |
• Referral to LifeShare at imminent death • Brain death is declared by a physician • Patient is on ventilator until organs are recovered • Transplant team spends 3-4 hours recovering organs |
• Referral to LifeShare at imminent death • Family and physician elect to withdraw life support • Referral to LifeShare for evaluation • Withdrawal of ventilator support in operating room or intensive care • Circulatory death is declared by a physician: • Unresponsive • No pulse • No cardiac sounds • No spontaneous respiration • No blood pressure • Transplant team begins organ recovery 5 minutes after declaration of death • Transplant team spends 1-2 hours recovering organs |
